Wapello County Offices - West 4th Street
Maintains and provides access to official real estate documents, contracts, articles of incorporation, partnerships, state and federal tax liens, military records, birth, divorce, death, and marriage records. Offers services for issuing and renewing licenses for ATVs, boats, snowmobiles, and fishing, as well as marriage licenses and certificates. Operates as a Passport acceptance facility with photo services and processes military records for tax exemptions and benefits.
Additionally, issues public health permits to certify compliance with health laws for various facilities and institutions. Services include the establishment of standards, review of applications, issuance of permits, and enforcement of compliance through inspections and monitoring.

WILD Canine Rescue
Provides a dog rescue devoted to saving canines in need. Programs include adoption program, foster program, and home to home program, as well as humane investigation (abuse and neglect of dogs). All of the dogs are in foster homes and people must make an appointment and complete the adoption application before adopting. To view available dogs, see the website.

Provides mental health counseling services to veterans. Services include treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and OCD.
Behavioral Health Specialists
HACAP - North Benton Center
Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. The application period is from October 1-April 30 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30th for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines. LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th. May be able to help with repairs on a furnace but cannot replace the furnace. Keep checking back on the furnace program as it is dependent on funding that changes frequently.

CommUnity Crisis Services
Provides youth individuals in crisis a therapeutic place to receive care. Services include a youth shelter for children ages 12-17 who are unhoused, or have run away from home, were kicked out of the home, or couch surfing. Individuals staying on the farm may participate in individual and family counseling, peer support groups, therapeutic recreation with arts, music, and animals. Services also include short-term stabilization for youth individuals ages 10-17 experiencing a mental health crisis for 3-10 days.
