Open to beginning farmers ages 18 and older, must have a net worth of no more than $901,000, must have sufficient education, training or experience for the anticipated farm operations, must have access to adequate working capital, equipment, and other items that are necessary to operate the farm, must own no more land than 30% of the county median acres

Programs such as the Beginning Farmer Loan Program assists new farmers in acquiring farmland, buildings, machinery, equipment, or breeding livestock at reduced interest rates. Beginning Farmer Tax Credit Program offers an incentive to landowners for leasing their farmland, machinery, or equipment to beginning farmers. Loan Participation Program helps secure down payment assistance for an agricultural purchase.
