Offers a goal oriented service in which a provider works one-on-one with an individual with disabilities to teach and assist with life skills. Services can be provided in the individual's home or in a community setting.

Offers the use of your library card to help individuals and families check out area attractions for free. The pass can be checked out with a library card and allows free admittance to the Blank Park Zoo, Science Center of Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The Adventure Pass must be printed when presented upon admission into the attractions along with a photo ID. Each pass allows admission for up to 4 people, including up to 2 adults and 2 children for both the Zoo and Botanical Garden. The Science Center of Iowa allows admission for up to 2 adults and 3 children, but a maximum of 4 people total may be admitted.

Provides a multi-year program that provides spouses with paid 12-week fellowships at employers across various industries and locations. Military spouses accepted into the program will:

​- Be placed with best-match organization based on their educational attainment, previous work experience and employer needs.

- Receive paid experience working in their desired industry or field.

- Have access to in-person and remote professional training, networking and hands-on experience in the civilian workplace.

Spouses who excel in their fellowship and are a good fit for their host company may be invited to join the employer as a direct hire at the end of the 12-week fellowship.

Urine, oral swab, and sweat patch testing for substance abuse assessment purposes.

Responsible for the publication and mailing of assessment change notices on all taxable parcels. The office also maintains all records for homestead exemptions. Assists taxpayers with the filing of property tax exemptions and any questions they may have in understanding the assessment process for their property. Also collects all delinquent (past due) taxes from sold properties and issues tax deeds. 

The tax redemption area computes and collects payments for past due or unpaid taxes.

Provides a clothing pantry. Individuals choose from clothing racks or clothing stacked on tables outside the building. For inclement weather, staff will find clothing requested, if possible. No access to building.

Provide outpatient therapy, outpatient psychiatry, psychiatric evaluations, and group therapy to children and adults for individual, group, marital, and play therapy. Services include substance abuse counseling, support groups, and medication-based treatment for substance use disorders, which combines approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to help individuals reduce or eliminate dependency on opioids or alcohol.

Offers, as resources allow, to help refugees and asylees reach economic self-sufficiency and to them with any problems, interests and concerns they may have. The Bureau of Refugee Services works to serve as a central clearinghouse in order to refer refugees and asylees to any resource necessary and available to them. The Bureau is the service agency for all refugees enrolled in FIP, the state welfare reform program. Now offering a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. This program will help participants prepare for the class, enroll into the DMACC CDL program at no cost, and obtain a job after completion. Participants will also qualify for “Jump Start” training specially designed to help English Language Learners.

Provides access to materials, including print, electronic, streaming, and downloadable items. Materials are available for circulation and in-house reference use. Also provides a scan and fax station and notary services.

• Emergency rent assistance for families in imminent danger of eviction
• Security deposits or first month's rent to help a family move into permanent housing in order to divert homelessness
