County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Saunders County.

State level services do not require wartime service. Assist in completing applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund, fee exempt fishing and hunting permits, applications to the Nebraska Veterans Homes, waivers of tuition.

Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

They also specialize in helping workers with disabilities perform the tasks of their jobs successfully. This includes providing intensive monitoring, training, assessment and support to workers and facilitating healthy working relationships between management and co-workers.

Vocational Training provides opportunities for individuals to receive hands-on experience in learning vocational skills to prepare them for the workforce and help achieve success in the community. This provides training opportunity for individuals looking to obtain permanent employment within their community.

Provides nonperishable food items to those in need. May also direct callers to nearby food pantries.

State contracted agency providing jobs, education, and training for people who have significant barriers to employment, have lost their jobs, or are just entering the workforce. Helps ADC/TANF beneficiaries meet requirements so they may continue to receive benefits.

Investigates confirmed and suspected cases of reportable diseases by working with healthcare providers, schools, childcare staff and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Collection and analysis of data from infected and exposed individuals (surveillance) to identify the cause of diseases to prevent and control their spread from person to person. Also, provides Tuberculosis (TB) testing and treatment, treatment for partners of those diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) and HIV Medical Case Management.

Provides inpatient and outpatient programs. Services include overcoming substance use problems, from unhealthy alcohol use to life-threatening addiction, treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, self-harm and suicidality, family/relationship problems, OCD, and confusion/memory loss. 

Provides a homeless shelter to those who are homeless or in imminent danger of becoming homeless. Staff members work with clients experiencing homelessness to identify barriers to housing and develop a plan-of-action to get past those barriers. This includes assisting with obtaining IDs, employment training, and utilizing collaborations with several other agencies on site.

2026 YouthHope Holiday Food Baskets

Holiday Food Basket Application begin October 1, 2026. Holiday baskets include holiday meal food items and a grocery gift certificate. Baskets are limited. Clients who apply for a food basket from another agency are not eligible. First-come, first-served. Basket recipients will receive a basket pick-up card at the time of application with details.

Application must be completed in-person during Food Pantry hours: Monday & Friday 9 am-12 pm. Families may select either Thanksgiving OR Christmas while supplies last. Please one ONE basket per family per year.

Also offers resources and insights to foster understanding and awareness about living with Parkinson's disease, promoting positive communication and interaction with individuals affected by the condition.
