Street-based assistance to runaway, homeless, and at-risk teens. Now operating out of CEDARS Youth Opportunity Center, where runaway, homeless youth and youth experiencing crisis can “drop-in” to receive a hot meal, do laundry, follow hygiene routines, complete job and housing applications, receive education support, and relax.

Offers Child Care Expense Assistance through the Iowa Department of Human services is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are absent for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities. County level services include direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Dakota County.

State level services do not require wartime service. Completes applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund, fee exempt fishing and hunting permits, Nebraska Veterans Homes, and waivers of tuition.

Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

Provides legal services in order to help with elder abuse. Services include helping with financial exploitation, guardianship of adults to ensure health care, nursing home and home care issues, powers of attorney and other advance directives, and SSI and social security denials, cessations, terminations, overpayments, and garnishments.

Provides emergency assistance when funds are available. Assistance is provided through vouchers written directly to the service provider and may include assistance with rent, utilities, medical prescriptions, clothing, and food.

Also participates with the Nicor Gas Sharing program, which provides assistance with natural gas bills for those in need. Applications are available during those months in which the program is operating.

Offers danger and lethality assessment, crisis intervention services, emergency shelter, case management, Safety planning, DV education, emergency cell phones, emergency transportation, confidential shelter locations, food and clothing.

Offers workshops that teach individuals and families how to get more out of money and how to save money for financial goals. This is a series of workshops that are a blend of instruction and hands on activities so each concept can be mastered. 

Case management resources to end the cycle of poverty and establish financial stability.

Offers support services for older adults, services include friendly calling, home visits, shopping assistance, SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program), exercise classes, ramp construction, and garden share.

Provides the opportunity for the mentor (Big) to visit their Little in the child's school, after school program, or at another youth-serving agency. This allows for the mentor to meet in a more structured environment than out in the community, usually for about an hour per week.

Provides a home visiting program that offers the following services for families expecting a baby and families with young children. Services include child development education and activities, promotes school readiness, community resource referrals, developmental screenings, group connections offering family activities and support from other families, lending library which offers toys, puzzles, and children's books to check out, and family events. 

Helps increase access to education and employment, among other supports.

Services include seeking expungements and sealing criminal records, restoring driver’s licenses, and removing other barriers to employment, education and housing, SNAP and TANF denials, calculations, overpayments and sanctions, special education, school discipline, and school enrollment issues, Community Care Program and Home Services Program issues, and tax disputes with IRS, including innocent spouse relief, identity theft, and collections.

Provides communicable disease follow-up, education, and prevention to control the spread of infection and illness.

Serves the cultural, psychological, and socio-economic needs of Ethiopians in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Also supports other African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Eastern European refugee populations who seek assistance services.
