The Red Cross hosts Sounds the Alarm in spring to install smoke alarms and help families learn about home fire safety.

Questions span a broad range of disability-related topics including, but not limited to accessible housing, transportation, employment services, personal assistants, assistive technology, and accessibility requirements.

Provides family case management to help and support income-eligible pregnant women and children. The needs of each family are assessed to determine which services would be beneficial. Family case managers also conduct developmental screenings, maternal depression screenings, and make genetic referrals as appropriate.

Brain injury information and resources available, including advocacy and support groups.

Provides medical case management for foster children. The program ensures continuity of medical care, including well child visits, referral, and follow-up with specialists as needed.

Provides fire, rescue and EMS services and fire prevention education, and oversees Ankeny's Emergency Management Division. Fire Station 2, 665 South East Oralabor Road, Ankeny. Fire Station 3, 1360 North East 36th Street, Ankeny.

Provides community-based services to adjudicated teens. Intended to divert youth from deeper involvement in the criminal justice system through intensive case management, counseling, life skills development, education, and recreation.

Supports, educates and instructs Morgan County residents on how they can receive counseling and support, and free nicotine replacement products through the Illinois Tobacco Quitline for those who are eligible.

Hospital-based donor center for blood and platelet donation.

Delivers skilled nursing and therapy services to persons in their homes. Some of the services include wound and diabetic care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and disease specific education.

Provides free tax credit clinics and prepares free federal and state income taxes for low to moderate income households.

Starting January 15, 2026, visit https://vita.unl.edu to schedule an appointment. Tax appointments begin Feb 1 and run through Apr 10 and are available at multiple sites in Lincoln. To see the days and times for all the locations, visit the website to download the site schedule.

When scheduling an appointment, choose a site location and date. All location will be face-to-face; virtual preparation is available in addition to facilitated self-assistance (schedule an appointment under the 'Need Assistance' tab).

If Lincoln Public School and/or UNL is closed due to bad weather, all VITA sites are closed.

The scope of work that can be done within the VITA site is defined by the IRS. If a return is considered "out of scope" for the site, VITA Volunteers will not be able to prepare the return.
