Offers one time financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing a crisis that has caused a homeless or near homeless situation. Stability assistance can be used for past due rent, past due utilities, or propane (depending on county). Assistance is available sporadically and only when funding is available.

Offers to teach important life and career skills to young people from all backgrounds through immersive career experiences and mentorship provided by community and business leaders. Equip young people with character, leadership and life skills that can be used both today and in their future careers. Co-ed.

Provides free or low-cost health coverage to people with low incomes, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

DHS administers the applications for Medicaid through ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility), which is the part of the DHS website where Illinois residents can apply for Medicaid, SNAP, and cash benefits.

Offers MEDICAID (Medical Assistance) to people who are low income and aged (65 and older), disabled (including blindness), women needing treatment for cancer or pre-cancerous conditions of breast or cervix (who have been screened and diagnosed through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program and who do not have credible health insurance coverage), children under 21 years of age, pregnant women, parents or other caretaker relatives of children under age 18 (or under age 19 if they are attending secondary school and are expected to graduate before age 19). Medicaid will pay the costs of Health care, Dental care, In-home health care, Nursing facility care or Residential facility care.

Provides emotional and practical support to individuals facing mental health challenges. Using shared life experiences to offer encouragement, build hope, and foster empowerment. Peer support can help individuals navigate recovery, develop coping skills, and connect to community resources, all while promoting personal growth and self-advocacy. 

Family Peer Support, Family peer support specialists work specifically with families of individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges. Family peer specialists offer guidance, resources, and emotional support to help families better understand the struggles of their loved ones. Offering coping strategies, enhance communication within the family, and help families connect to services and support networks, fostering a more supportive home environment for recovery. 

Peer Recovery Specialists, peer recovery specialists assist individuals in achieving and maintaining long-term recovery from substance use disorders. They offer practical support such as goal setting, skills building, and crisis intervention, alongside emotional encouragement. Through shared experiences, they serve as mentors and role models, helping individuals create personalized recovery plans and connect with resources for housing, employment, and social services.

ASP serves as the reception and classification center for all juvenile males adjudicated to the adult institutional corrections system CLARINDA CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (712-542-5634): A medium security men’s institution emphasizing: academic education, violence prevention, anger management, parenting programs, psychological counseling, cognitive skills training, substance abuse program, prison industry (trailer production), private family visitation, reentry program, pre-release program, vocational training, and special needs programs FT. DODGE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (515-574-4700): A medium security men’s facility, emphasizing: academic and vocational education, psychological services and counseling, cognitive skills training, substance abuse program, reentry programs, anger management, parenting programs, family violence program, and MIFVPP IOWA CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR WOMEN, MITCHELLVILLE (515-725-5042): Serves as the reception and classification center for all females entering the adult institutional corrections system. A medium security women's facility emphasizing academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skill training, substance abuse programs, violence prevention, pre-release program, reentry programs, anger management and parenting programs IOWA MEDICAL & CLASSIFICATION CENTER, CORALVILLE (319-626-2391): IMCC serves as the reception and classification center for all males 18 years of age and older entering the adult institutional corrections system. After extensive testing and assessment of risk, health and cognitive skills, they are then processed on to other facilities. A medium security general population unit is in operation at IMCC, as well as, a special needs unit with both medical and mental health beds. IMCC also runs the only licensed forensic psychiatric hospital in the state, providing inpatient psychiatric and evaluation service to non-adjudicated patients IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY, FT. MADISON (319-372-5432): A maximum security prison facility for men emphasizing: academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skills training, and offender treatment MT. PLEASANT WOMEN'S UNIT, Mt. Pleasant (319-385-9511): A medium/minimum security institution for women emphasizing cognitive based programming including substance abuse, sex offender programming, thinking for a change, and academic programming. In addition, mental health re-entry and recreation services are provided NEWTON CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (641-792-7552): A medium security facility for men. Includes: violence prevention, anger management, parenting programs, psychological counseling, cognitive skills training, licensed substance abuse program, pre-release programs, off grounds work programs, Storybook, GED and literacy, CALM, Thinking for Success, criminality, Braille, Key-life skills, Blackhawk County Re-entry, prison industries, etc. NORTH CENTRAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, Rockwell City (712-297-7521): A minimum security facility for men emphasizing academic and vocational education, psychological counseling, cognitive skills training, licensed substance abuse program, parenting programs, leader dog training, family violence prevention, pre-release program, anger management, off grounds work, prison industries, and many other programs. Offers a full range of general counseling and psychotherapy services including individual (adult, child and adolescent), group, marital, and family counseling for individuals with emotional, relationship, and life adjustment issues. Counseling is holistic in approach, integrating mind-body-spirit for healing.  Include intensive psychotherapy (depression, stress, self-esteem, marriage, divorce, family, and grief counseling); psychological testing and evaluation; consultation to businesses, educational and religious institutions and counseling for pre-school through high school age youth and their families. The Center staff is interdisciplinary and includes pastoral counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, a healing touch practitioner and spiritual director, career counselor, a psychiatrist and psychiatric P.A. 

Provides a free clothing closet with infant to adult size clothing. Also provides shoes, new underwear and socks, laundry detergent, some housewares, books and toys.

Offers services including community health programs, disease information, control, and prevention, emergency preparedness programs through Alert Iowa, and support services such as personal care assistance for individuals, including help with hygiene, clothing care, mobility, and other essential daily activities to promote health and comfort.

County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Perkins County.

State level services do not require wartime service. Assists in completing applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund; fee exempt fishing and hunting permits; applications to the Nebraska Veterans Homes; and waivers of tuition.

Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

- Individual advocacy focuses on the individual with a disability and services available within the community to assist them in living independently and to eventually become their own advocate.

- Systemic advocacy involves working together to eliminate barriers and allow people with disabilities to fully participate in their community.
