Department of Human Services (DHS) - Sangamon County
Provides medical and cash assistance for customers who are 65 years of age or older, blind, or disabled. Also includes the QMB (Qualified Medicare Beneficiary) program which provides payment of Medicare premiums and some Medicare co-payments.
The online application is called "Application for Benefits Eligibility (ABE)." When applying, the state will determine the applicant's eligibility for this AABD, as well as SNAP and medical assistance (Medicaid).

Iowa National Guard Warrior and Family Services
Provides support and resources for Soldiers and their Families to assist them in achieving a successful deployment cycle. This assistance is provided by creating experiences that coincide with each stage of the deployment journey.
Pre-Deployment, as Soldiers and families anticipate extended separation the focus is on being prepared and supported by ensuring awareness of vital information and resources to help throughout the deployment process.
During-Deployment, the experience during the deployment changes to one focused more on support and connectedness so that families don’t feel they are enduring the deployment alone while also preparing them for the inevitable reintegration.
Post-Deployment, upon the Soldiers’ return, the focus shifts to the reintegration of the Soldier to the family unit and assists them as they resume family life and normalize adjusted routines.
Aging Partners - Headquarters
Provides benefits counseling and legal assistance services for older adults in need. Services include information on Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance policies, life, and long-term care policies.
Services may also include free legal counseling and representation for older adults ages 60 and older with limited income and resources. Legal services are limited to civil elder law, including wills, powers of attorney, and debt issues.
Wabash Area Development - White County
Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. Application period is from October 1-August 31 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-August 31 for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines.
LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th.

Provides support to individuals affected by mental illness, education on mental health topics, and advocating for mental health awareness and resource withing the community. NAMI Peer-to-Peer: An 8-session course for adults living with mental illness, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed.
NAMI Family-to-Family: An 8-session course for family members, significant others, and friends of adults living with mental illness.
NAMI Basics: A 6-session educational program for parents and caregivers of children and teens experiencing symptoms of mental illness or who have received a diagnosis.
NAMI Support Groups: Weekly peer-led groups for adults living with mental illness, as well as for family members and caregivers seeking support.
NAMI Educational Courses: Offers 3-4 times annually for individuals living with mental illness and for those who support them.
Public Presentations- NAMI Ending the Silence: Designed for junior high and high school audiences.
NAMI In Our Own Voice: Intended for the general public, featuring personal stories of recovery shared by individuals living with mental illness.
Wellness and Recovery Drop-in Center is located on Ames, provides a welcoming, peer-led, and stigma-free environment for support and connection.

Senior Care Options program available to older Nebraskans who are considering admission to a nursing home and may be eligible for Medicaid assistance. Clients are screened according to a standardized assessment process developed by the Department of Health and Human Services.
Care Managers arrange for services, which allow older adults to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible.
Housekeeping and supportive services to include grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, transportation and personal care.
Family Caregiver Support for those caring for an aging adult or grandparents caring for a minor child. Provides information, assistance, support group, respite care, and supplemental services.
Home delivered meals are provided to homebound by reason of illness, disability or isolation. The meals meet 1/3 of the daily dietary recommended needs of adults 60 years and over and the requirements of the Older Americans Act and state and local laws.
Public benefit services, legal assistance, education, Medicare filing, and volunteer training through SHIIP.

A group that provides support for individuals and family members affected by mental illness. Participants can discuss personal issues or concerns about a loved one. There is also an online Facebook support group available. Each person must ask to be added to the group and only those in the group can read and participate in discussions that occur within the group.

Offers support to individuals by assessing health related emotional and social needs and assisting to locate resources and services. Services include counseling, education, information and referrals to programs and services, advocacy, arranging in-home services such as home health, meals or equipment, assisting with insurance or financial concerns, assisting with long-term placement decisions, facilitating completion of advance directives.
