Items that may be borrowed from or used in the library include DVDs, large print materials, audio books, magazines, and newspapers. Provides probation supervision for offenders after being convicted of a criminal offense as ordered by the Court; in lieu of incarceration. Also provides parole and probation and presentence services for justice involved adults and provides court ordered domestic violence educational interventions for adults convicted of family/domestic violence.

Assists older adults to remain independent in their home as long as possible by providing an evaluation of the older adults' needs, developing a plan of care to meet those needs, and monitoring their plan to make changes as appropriate to keep them independent.

Care coordinators also provide an evaluation in the hospital or at home to educate individuals about their resource options prior to entering a nursing home.

Offers consultations to evaluate immigration legal options, advise clients on how to proceed, and represent clients throughout the legal process.

Head Start is an educational program to help prepare children for transition into kindergarten and provides health screenings and nutrients. Transportation is available at most locations. Early Head Start is specific to meet the developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Offers home-based options with a weekly visit from a teacher in the family's home along with two special days a month for activities with other families.

Provides a school district map to use to search and locate school districts throughout the state.

Provides primary information and referral access point for citizens or visitors contacting the City of Des Moines government.

Provides housing for seniors ages 55 and older, disabled ages 40 years or older.

Provides access to a 24 hour helpline with care coordination specialists offering resource referrals, case management and support to Illinois Veterans, family members, or caregivers experiencing emotional challenges associated with PTSD, mild TBI, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), stress, anxiety, depression, addiction and substance abuse. 

Offers residential treatment programs for adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Those programs serve men and women, women with children, young adults, veterans, and essential and frontline workers. Also offers medically monitored detox and withdrawal management.

Sober living recovery homes and halfway houses provide wraparound support for individuals in early recovery. Also offers supportive housing for individuals living with mental health disorders.

Adult outpatient services include therapy, specialty care such as TMS therapy and MAT, family support and education, psychiatric care, intensive community-based case management, and fulfillment of legal behavioral healthcare requirements related to court systems.

Promotes environmental and personal health through health promotion, disease detection, disease prevention, education and regulation. In cooperation with community resources, assists the community and the citizens to assume responsibility for their individual health and the health of the community. This is accomplished through assessment of the health status of the community, policy development and leadership, and assurance that high-quality services are available and accessible to all persons. LLCHD works with city, county, and state government to encourage policies and regulations which promote and protect public health. Divisions include Director's Office, Animal Control, Dental Health and Nutrition Services, Environmental Public Health, Health Promotion and Outreach, Community Health Services, and Health Data and Evaluation.

Epidemiological Services provides leadership in public health assessment; collects, analyzes and disseminates information about community health status; facilitates community health planning and policy development; coordinates epidemiologic response; and provides public health programs and related community initiatives with epidemiologic support for program evaluation, planning and communication needs. The GIS component provides maps to analyze relationships in spatial data to identify high-risk areas.

Resource Information Management serves as a supportive, collaborative partner in a number of community activities.

Information and access to services for the elderly, including caregiver options and transportation. Eldercare Locator is a public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging connecting you to services for older adults and their families. Eldercare Locator is administered by USAging. 

Works to help individuals, including those facing significant employment barriers, secure and retain high-quality jobs. The program assists people in finding employment, funds training when needed to gain or retain a position, and provides assistance in obtaining work permits or official documentation required for work authorization.

The Adult Program serves people who are at least 18 years old and, if applicable, registered for Selective Service. The Dislocated Worker Program serves individuals registered for Selective Service who have lost their jobs and meet dislocated worker categories defined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The Youth Program serves in-school youth (ages 14-21) and out-of-school youth (ages 16-24) who need assistance with training or education to enter the workforce successfully, with a focus on young people facing barriers to success. This includes government-subsidized summer employment programs that provide job opportunities in the public and private sectors during the summer months. Registration for these summer opportunities occurs during a spring application period.
