Foster care services for children.

Foster parent recruitment in the Omaha, northern, and southwestern service areas of Nebraska. Foster parents can be married or single individuals who have an interest in helping children and families. Foster parents are provided initial and ongoing training to assist in providing care for their foster children, and are assigned a NOVA TC Foster Care Specialist who provides support through home visits and case management services. Foster Care Specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Provides assistance to limited-income seniors who need help managing their finances. The level of care provided is based on the need of the person. The goal of the program is to assist low-income seniors and persons with disability (who are financially exploited) to assure independence and to prevent pre-mature institutional care and abuse.

The program helps with such bill-paying activities as opening and organizing mail, setting up budgets, and balancing checkbooks for seniors who remain in control of their finances, but need some help keeping things in order.

Representative Payee volunteers help clients manage their Social Security benefits, if the client is unable to handle his or her own finances. The Representative Payee volunteer manages and pays the client's expenses from an account into which the Social Security benefit is automatically deposited.

Provides city government departments and other city information.

Provides programs for families involved in the child welfare system or in crisis that need encouragement while they change their lives. Services include advocacy, mentoring, mediation, alternative counseling, workshops, outreach and 3rd party visits. Also provides group sessions and trainings.

Offers crafts, sewing, potluck dinner, and socialization for the elderly.

Provides Central Iowa residents with answers for safe and smart waste disposal and recycling. Whether it’s garbage, recycling, yard waste, hazardous waste, or special waste. Call for information on locations and business hours. 

Family resource program to support parents in educating and nurturing their children. The program provides parents with opportunities to move toward self-sufficiency by working with other community organizations. Health and mental health services are also provided to participants.

Program helps parents better understand their child’s stages of development with individualized visits in the home. The weekly visits are 90 minutes in length and are designed to meet the needs of each family. Staff will assist families in planning activities that encourage the child’s growth. Social activities will be held twice monthly to provide the opportunity to interact with your child and other families.

Provides park facilities and recreational programs.

Services include:

- Public park with playground, pavilion area with tables and benches, and a baseball field. Picnics are permitted.

- Dog park (membership/registration required).

- Walking trail.

- Conservation area with butterfly house and native plant species.

- Hinckley-Big Rock Youth Soccer provides a recreational soccer, positive coaching, and referee experiences. Not a travel league.

Offers public housing options and Section 8 vouchers.

Offers a before and after school program. Services provide children individual and group tutoring, as well as mentoring services to decrease school suspensions and to address the mental health and academic needs. Children are given a snack and provided with homework assistance, life skills, and recreational activities.

Food pantry offering non-perishable items and grocery store vouchers. Toiletries and diapers provided when available and occasionally by special request.

Provides comprehensive mental health services to individuals in central Iowa, including psychiatric evaluation and assessment, addiction medicine, crisis intervention, and access to community resources. Services are designed to address urgent mental health needs and offer timely care as an alternative to delayed appointments, ensuring immediate support for those in crisis.

On-site coordination is available with Eyerly Ball Community Mental Health Services and Orchard Place Child Guidance Center to enhance access to specialized care.
