CIH conducts an intake and assessment for households experiencing homelessness in Champaign County, IL. Based on eligibility and priority, CIH links households experiencing homelessness with shelter, transitional, and permanent housing program options when there are program vacancies. In addition, CIH can make referrals to local community resources based on the needs of individuals served. Individuals and families can request a CIH at partner agencies.

Provides on a first come, first serve basis during regular business hours items like produce and bread along with other miscellaneous items.

Provides inpatient and outpatient services for adults with chemical dependency. Has a Dual Diagnosis Track for individuals who have either a medical or mental illness in combination with an addiction. Provides both individual and group therapy.

Provides a variety of services through the Outreach Department:

• The Bookmobile currently visits 48 stops every three weeks in the city of Bloomington. Check online for schedule.

• Home Delivery Service will bring books to the home for those who live in Bloomington and are unable to come to the library.

• Deposit Collections are delivered on a rotating schedule to nursing homes and childcare centers.

Offers reduced cost lab draws, screens for sexually transmitted disease and tuberculosis. 

Provides information to help prepare expectant parents and support childbirth.

Provides the city government departments and other city information.

Administers Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers to those that are approved and can provide list of landlords that accept the vouchers.

Provides counseling and information to people with questions about Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance, long term care insurance, and other health insurance.

Provides counseling services for both individual treatment and group work. It can be focused on a specific issue or focused on broader patterns of thinking and behavior. Both require an individual to learn new, healthier ways to think and interact.

Online counseling option also available. An online session is conducted the same as an in-person session, with the exception of never having to leave the home or office. The format is face-to-face, in real time, over a computer.

Provides food to those in need. Food is provided to anyone in the area, even if they are not a resident of Mahaska County.

Mini shelters are available for displaced persons who suffer loss of homes due to fire, tornadoes, transience, domestic disputes, or homelessness. Shelters are guarded and locations are confidential.
