Provides mental health services to those in need. Services include a variety of therapeutic interventions such as general counseling, psychiatry, TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), Spravato, Ketamine Infusions, QEEG (Quantitative electroencephalogram), and genetic testing. 

Provides a food pantry with nonperishable items. Offers meat when available. Also provides personal hygiene products and paper products when available.

Provides mental health counseling services to veterans. Services include treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and OCD.

Offers adult education services providing learning opportunities to individuals ages 16 and up (some restrictions will apply). Classes are funded through federal and state grants, with help from sources such as The United Way of Champaign County. 

Christmas In July offers families a fun, free event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11 am-2 pm at the Evelyn Davis Park, 1400 Forest Avenue, Des Moines. Toys will be given away and activities for the family will be available. This event helps raise awareness for the Salvation Army's mortgage, rent, utilities, food assistance and Pathway of Hope programs. Funds raised from this event will help support these programs and help our neighbors in need in the Des Moines community.

Provides a structured one-on-one relationship that focuses on the needs of the youth.

Mentors help guide the youth through a wide range of tasks such as emotional well-being, social skills, self-esteem, and other areas the youth may be struggling with. The mentor helps the youth to overcome obstacles, set limits, and reach goals.

Provides comprehensive, coordinated services to families experiencing domestic violence.

Services include:

- Domestic violence advocacy

• Children's counseling
• Case management services
• Domestic violence 24 hour hotline
• Emergency shelter

Advises and aids veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits through compensation or pension claims. Emergency financial assistance for basic necessities such as rent or utility payments, burial expenses, dental/medical bill expenses, medically necessary prescriptions, and food may be available. Can also assists with applications for benefits made available by federal, state or local laws.

Helps eligible low-income customers save money by conserving energy. Energy education is incorporated in each step of the weatherization process to explain how the measures performed will help our customers save energy.

Provides comprehensive mental health services for children and teens experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.

Services include:

- Play Therapy for emotional expression and skill-building in young children.

- Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) to support young children and caregivers healing from trauma.

- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for children with behavioral concerns, focusing on strengthening parent–child relationships and effective behavior management.

- Virtual Reality Therapy to help youth safely practice coping skills, reduce anxiety, and build emotional regulation in immersive environments.

- Eagala Therapy (Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy) to support emotional growth, trust-building, and trauma recovery through structured interactions with horses.

- Sports Therapy to help children and adolescents build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen confidence through movement-based therapeutic activities.

- Art Therapy to promote healing and communication through creative expression Therapists also provide individual therapy, family therapy, trauma-informed care, and interventions for anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, grief, school challenges, and life transitions.

Treatment is coordinated with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure holistic, effective support.

Provides a major rehabilitation deferred loan program, assistance up to $25,000 is available for major repair or renovation of homes which contain several code-related issues or are in need of significant rehabilitation (cosmetics do not qualify). A minor rehabilitation grant program, under this program a grant of up to $12,000 is provided for code-related repairs of an emergency nature which threatens the health or safety of the occupants of the home. An accessibility grant program that provides grant assistance to an income-eligible homeowner or renter of a single-family residence or up to a four-unit complex to eliminate physical barriers which inhibit the use of the dwelling unit by a person with disability. The maximum grant amount is $7,000.
