Offers Child Care Expense Assistance through the Iowa Department of Human services is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are absent for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities. Services include annual exams for men and women, sports and school physicals, well-baby visits, a diaper bank for families that have earned points to receive diapers and wipes, childhood and adult immunizations, wellness care, chronic disease management (such as diabetes, asthma/COPD, kidney disease, heart disease, hypertension and HIV/AIDS), health insurance counseling, sexually transmitted disease and treatment, birth control options, pregnancy testing and mental health evaluations.

Offers assistance to individuals in crisis beyond their control such as car repairs for working persons and other emergency needs.

Provides a hotline offering education-related support for families of infants and children with disabilities. Providing information, referrals, and connections to local contacts for hearing and developmental screenings, service coordination, and access to resources such as disability registries that maintain data to support care management, public health planning, and medical research for individuals with specific disabilities or associated risk factors.

A public charity which raises funds and collects toys/games to be distributed to low income families during the holidays. DONATE CASH OR CHECK: The preferred method for monetary donations is for the individual or business to send a check or money order to the local Toys for Tots Coordinator, made payable to "Toys for Tots" and mailed to: Toys for Tots Coordinator, Marine Corps Reserve Center, Bldg # 47 Dickman Ave., Des Moines IA 50315. Offers workshops that teach individuals and families how to get more out of money and how to save money for financial goals. This is a series of workshops that are a blend of instruction and hands on activities so each concept can be mastered. 

Offers the Warm Neighbors program which is a matching fund program to help with utility bills for customers of Ameren only.

Assists individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities in accessing needed services and supports. Coordinators provide information, referral, assess individuals for needs, develop a treatment plan, and coordinate funding as needed.

Provides temporary homes for children of families in crisis. Services allow parents an opportunity to resolve a temporary crisis while reducing risk of abuse, neglect, and isolation for children. Connects families with a family friend, who offers a healthy relational support as the family navigates the situation. Also connects the family with a family coach, who can provide linkage to services in the community and set goals to reach a place of stability. 

Weatherization services include a cost-effectiveness energy audit, air leakage checks, insulation, and all combustion appliances inspection for repair and/or replacement.

Offers a free community meal once each month. To-go meals are also available.

Provides emergency shelter and services to boys and girls, up to age 18, and their families. Currently licensed to serve 15 youth at any given time. Provides Family Centered Services for youth involved in the system, an in-home program and diversion services, including a 47 hour housing program for youth whose home may be a danger.
