Offers an emergency homeless shelter that operates from Aug1- May 31 each year. The shelter provides meals, beds, showers, and laundry facilities. It is a structured program which includes rules, case management, classes, and require participation in an individual service plan.
Lutheran Family Services - Project Harmony
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) for children ages 0 to 6 who have experienced interpersonal violence. Uses behavior-based strategies, play and verbal interpretation as therapeutic interventions. The focus is on improving child-caregiver interactions through play. The therapist acts as a bridge or interpreter between the child and parent.
Circle of Security Parent Training is an eight-week program based on years of research about how to best support and strengthen parent-child relationships. It is designed to help parents give their children a feeling of security and confidence so their children explore, learn, grow and build positive relationships.
Connections, a Project Harmony program, works with schools and health care professionals to identify children in grades K-8 in need of mental health services. Focuses on children who are not receiving child welfare or juvenile justice services. Children are matched with LFS community therapists who are trained in evidence-based practices. Throughout the counseling process, therapists work with the family and a Connections mental health coordinator to help remove financial hardships and other barriers families face in accessing services.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy used to help with symptoms of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By directly affecting how the brain processes information, EMDR helps people see traumatic memories in new, less distressing ways.
Using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), parents learn play therapy skills to enhance their parent-child relationship. Parents also learn to manage their child’s behaviors through behavioral principles and discipline techniques.
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy for children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other difficulties related to traumatic life events. The goal is to provide both the child and caregiver with the knowledge and skills to help them identify and cope with trauma-related emotions, thoughts and behaviors.
Allamakee County Offices - Allamakee Street
Provides public services related to court proceedings and maintains records of all court records. This office receives, files, and maintains all of the documentation that comprises the official court record for the following case types: felonies; misdemeanors, traffic violations, ordinance violations, civil, family, or paternity court cases, juvenile injunctions, restraining orders, and small claims court cases. The Clerk of Court is responsible for the collection of case related fees, fines and forfeitures, case management and event tracking, budget planning, records management, courtroom operation support, jury management, and facility planning.
This office issues copies of divorce decrees for divorces granted in the county court and provides assistance and necessary forms needed to file a petition with the court for a legal name change.
Also provides a resource for County residents who choose to represent themselves in court or have questions on divorce, child custody, paternity, grandparent rights. Information on legal fees and costs for hiring attorneys is also available.

Provides weatherization services to low income households, which helps conserve fuel and reduce energy costs by making homes and apartments more energy efficient. Also provides many health and safety upgrades.
Services vary, but may include insulation installation, HVAC repair or replacement, electric base load reduction (lighting and refrigerator replacement), and air sealing.
Maximum $15,000 for energy-related weatherization and repair work (per client's home). Maximum $3,500 for health and safety-related measures.

Provides financial assistance for basic needs, such as rent and utility help, to residents of Wapella Township.
