Champaign-Urbana Public Health District
Identifies, investigates, and attempts to control disease outbreaks in the community. CUPHD Communicable Disease Investigator works with the state health department and local health care providers. Investigators conduct a confidential interview with persons diagnosed with an infectious disease that could lead to an outbreak. Interviews help confirm to the diagnosis, determine the source of infection, and limit the spread of the disease.

In-person Christmas Assistance sign-ups for Toy Shop will be taking place at the Salvation Army on the following days and times in 2025:

An appointment is not required. Applicant must bring a valid Pottawattamie County ID, ID for all children in the household with printed birth date, and proof of Pottawattamie County residence (lease, utility bill, etc.).

Provides a space for all of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to gather to meet other people, enjoy activities, groups and events, shop for pride merchandise, support local LGBTQ+ artists, ask for referrals, and get connected to medical care, counseling and public health services, housing, and other local resources.
The location is a safe place for our community and allies meet up with friends, have small group meetings, play board games, watch TV, connect to the internet, read a book, and more.
Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization
Provides a website offering the following substance use information:
- Medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction.
- Drug addiction facts and risks, including how heroin changes the brain.
- Myths about heroin and individuals who use heroin.
- Symptoms of heroin withdrawal.
- Warning signs of drug use.
Des Moines VA Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC)
Provides health care and specialty health care services, including mental health care. Can also provide family and internal medicine services.

Offers Tuberculosis skin tests and QuantiFERON testing.
Marion VA Medical Center
Provides general medical care for veterans and their families. Services include checkups, prevention, diagnosis, treatment of diseases, immunizations and vaccinations, labs and blood work.
Hardin County Housing Authority
Offers low income public housing.
St. Mary's Baby Pantry
Provides baby items for those in need. Items can include baby formula, baby food, baby clothing, diapers and wipes. Can also provide maternity clothing as it's available.
Burlington VA Clinic
Works to help Veterans on their recovery journey through outpatient and inpatient services. The residential facility helps Veterans deal with substance abuse, homelessness, mental health, and unemployment through its 24-hour therapeutic and educational programs.

Offers the Adventure Pass, a program designed to help individuals and families check out area attractions for free. The pass can be checked out with a library card and allows free admittance to the Blank Park Zoo, McCreary Community Building, Perry Grand 3 Theaters, Science Center of Iowa and the Des Moines Children's Museum. The Adventure Pass must be printed when presented upon admission into the attractions along with a photo ID. Each pass allows admission for up to 4 people, including up to 2 adults and 2 children.
Caregivers Of Centerville
Offers home health aide services. Allowing clients to continue living at home, including assisted living facilities while receiving medical care. Services include personal care such as showering and bathing, nail care, shaving, oral and denture care, toileting, catheter, and ostomy assistance, exercise “buddy” for range of motion, endurance and wellness, encouraging mobility, including walking with an assistive device, nutrition assistance, including meal preparation and feeding, medication reminders and light housekeeping and chores.
McHenry County Housing Authority
May be able to assist with past due rent to those who have dealt with circumstances beyond the household’s control. This program does not assist with mortgages or property taxes.
Program availability depends on funding availability. Rents must fall within the local rent standards for the household’s size. These programs are funded by a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)
