Assistance programs may help with emergency assistance for rent or utilities, medical or dental care costs, funeral expenses, vehicle expenses (repair, payment, insurance, gas, etc.), pet medical care or transportation to/from an overseas assignment, food, personal hygiene items, child care expenses, and more.

Christmas In July offers families a fun, free event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11 am-2 pm at the Evelyn Davis Park, 1400 Forest Avenue, Des Moines. Toys will be given away and activities for the family will be available. This event helps raise awareness for the Salvation Army's mortgage, rent, utilities, food assistance and Pathway of Hope programs. Funds raised from this event will help support these programs and help our neighbors in need in the Des Moines community.
