Salvation Army North Corps Community Center
School backpack and supply distribution for grades pre-K-12. Proof of school enrollment for each child is required, regardless of location.
For 2025, distribution is Friday, August 8th through Saturday, August 9th at the following locations:
- The Salvation Army Citadel Corps (3738 Cuming Street, Omaha) - August 8th-9th at 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm, or until supplies have been exhausted. Must visit in person for distribution only; backpacks will be distributed in the gymnasium.
- The Salvation Army Kroc Center (2825 Y Street, Omaha) - August 8th-9th at 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-3 pm, or until supplies have been exhausted. Walk-up distribution only. Enter the Kroc Center campus off of 27th Street (on the east end of the property).
- Westroads Mall (10000 California Street, Omaha) - August 9th at 10 am-1 pm, or until supplies have been exhausted. Drive-thru distribution only. The distribution will take place in the mall’s northeast parking lot, just north of JC Penney.
Pocahontas County Offices
Assists residents with social service needs and with accessing appropriate resources and services. The department also assists with general assistance.
Rosecrance Crystal Lake
Offers residential treatment programs for adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Those programs serve men and women, women with children, young adults, veterans, and essential and frontline workers. Also offers medically monitored detox and withdrawal management.
Sober living recovery homes and halfway houses provide wraparound support for individuals in early recovery. Also offers supportive housing for individuals living with mental health disorders.
Adult outpatient services include therapy, specialty care such as TMS therapy and MAT, family support and education, psychiatric care, intensive community-based case management, and fulfillment of legal behavioral healthcare requirements related to court systems.

Salvation Army of Bloomington - Safe Harbor Shelter and Social Service Center
Temporary housing for veterans for up to 90 days while they find and secure permanent housing. Can currently house 11 male veterans in Lincoln and 9 male or female veterans in Bloomington. Limited accommodations possible for families.
While in the GPD program, veterans will receive several services, housing intervention, case management, life skills training, access to either prepared meals or food pantry items, transportation, and assistance with applying for VA and Social Security benefits.

Provides public housing options to low income individuals and families. Also administers the Section 8 Choice Housing Voucher program.
Family Service of Champaign County
- Food for Seniors: Provides groceries to income eligible seniors in Champaign and Urbana who are in need of food. Groceries are delivered by volunteers on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
- Emergency Food Fund for Seniors: Seniors determined to be in emergent need of food by caseworkers may get food to cover them until other resources are available. (For example, a senior needs food on a Friday when there are no open food pantries). Caseworker will submit a request for emergency funds to shop and deliver food to the senior to cover the weekend.

Offers Child Care Expense Assistance through the Iowa Department of Human services is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are absent for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities. Offers resources, application assistance, and case management for immigrants of a variety of language and cultural backgrounds in a manner consistent with their immigration status concerns and language needs.
Sugar Grove Township
Provides emergency financial assistance for rent (must have a 5 day eviction notice) and utilities (must have a disconnection notice from utility company). Payment will be up to $700 per household depending on need and qualifications, payable once in a 12 month period. Emergency Assistance is available to those who do not qualify for the Township’s General Assistance program.
