Recruits and licenses homes for traditional and specialized foster care placement.

Traditional foster care programs provide synergy between foster parents, biological parents, the court, social workers, and the child. Foster parents cooperate with the court to set goals that (ideally) results in the return of the child to their family. If that is not possible, foster parents are asked to commit to permanency for the child.

Specialized foster care programs work to meet the special needs of physically, behaviorally, and emotionally challenged children; as well as the foster families serving them. This program works toward permanency by providing intensive case management and comprehensive mental health services, along with medical, developmental, and educational services.

Provides abuse and crisis intervention services to those going through a domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or sex trafficking situation. Services include emotional support and crisis counseling, lethality assessment and safety planning, case management, children's advocacy, short term mental health counseling, health care navigation, and a support group.

A medium security women's facility emphasizing academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skill training, substance abuse programs, violence prevention, pre-release program, reentry programs, anger management and parenting programs IOWA MEDICAL & CLASSIFICATION CENTER, CORALVILLE (319-626-2391): IMCC serves as the reception and classification center for all males 18 years of age and older entering the adult institutional corrections system. After extensive testing and assessment of risk, health and cognitive skills, they are then processed on to other facilities. A medium security general population unit is in operation at IMCC, as well as, a special needs unit with both medical and mental health beds. IMCC also runs the only licensed forensic psychiatric hospital in the state, providing inpatient psychiatric and evaluation service to non-adjudicated patients IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY, FT. Helps consumers prepare electronic and paper applications to establish eligibility to enroll in coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplaces and potentially qualify for an insurance affordability program. They are trained and certified to help individuals understand health care options and enroll in a plan.

DCFS has the primary responsibility of protecting children and strengthening families through the investigation and intervention of suspected child abuse or neglect by parents and other caregivers.

DCFS links families with community services to address struggles families are having, offers preventative services to referred families in an attempt to keep family units together to address findings of abuse/neglect, and works with families who have children under the legal custody of DCFS while working to reunify families when possible or provide a permanent home for children.

As part of its duties, DCFS also licenses and monitors all Illinois child welfare agencies, child care agencies, domestic and international adoption providers, and group homes in the state.

The program focuses on goal-oriented, individualized and accessible support to improve self-sufficiency so that people can achieve recovery outcomes, personal growth and decreased need for costly institutional care.
