Provides an assistance program for Kankakee Township residents administered and funded entirely by Kankakee Township that provides financial assistance for rent and/or utilities. This program is an income based program primarily for adults who have no minor children in the home and are ineligible for any of the federally-funded cash grant programs.

Two Rivers Head Start Agency - Elgin West (Aldine)
Provides financial assistance to senior and disabled individuals with unmet needs. Services could include car repairs, eye glasses, medical equipment, dental care, or help with clothing. Senior Basket Program assists seniors with various items that cannot be acquired with food stamps. Basket varieties include things like cleaning supplies, kitchen items, or personal hygiene supplies. Two Baskets are distributed each year in the Spring and Fall.

Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health - Decorah
Offers a 24-hour crisis hotline providing access to a therapist for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The therapist will talk with the person, evaluate the need for further and/or immediate services, and work to get services set up with the individual if needed.

Home delivered meals are available in those situations where a client is in need of a warm nutritious meal and they are unable to prepare their own because of illness or disability. The meals and those individuals who volunteer to deliver those meals are coordinated through various local organizations.
Also offers community based meals that provides a social atmosphere that promotes healthy interaction with others while receiving a warm meal.
Pocahontas County Outreach Center
Works with primary care providers who identify social/emotional or developmental concerns, family stressors, or caregiver depression during well child medical exams. If a condition is identified, the family is referred to a support specialist who provides care coordination. Specialists may provide referrals for developmental screening, mental health or behavioral health services, or other needs, and will monitor the family's progress.
Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership - Broken Bow
Case management, client needs assessment, goal setting/plan development, and assistance to stabilize housing for individuals and families. Services vary and may include assistance with rent, utilities, rental and/or utility deposits, depending upon verification of need and progress being made on goals. Eligibility and re-certification requirements may vary by program.
Limited funding is available and only offered during certain times of the year.

Christmas food baskets, vouchers, and gifts for children.
For Christmas 2025:
Provides a child’s toy and clothing of choice, hats and gloves and coat (if needed), food for the family, and other items.

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois - Sterling
Offers to assist individuals with disabilities with finding and maintaining work. Individuals that are eligible for this program receive assistance from a Job Coach through a work experience that can last up to 6 months. In addition, individuals in this program receive assistance with resume and cover letter development, applying for work, and mock interviews.

Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health - Decorah
Offers individual counseling and tele-health counseling settings. Services cover a variety of mental health issues and topics. Therapy and supportive services include art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization/reprocessing (EMDR), peer counseling, play therapy, and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
