Provides testing of private well water, assistance with and permitting of private sewage disposal systems, health hazards related to the environment, general environmental issues such as radon, rat harborages, dangerous buildings, air quality, unhealthy living conditions, radon test kits, and waste tire collection information.

Offers new gifts to children ages newborn to 12 years old just in time for the holidays every year. When funds allow, gift cards will be given to each family to purchase food for a holiday meal, or we provide food items such as a ham or turkey and canned goods. Provides a weekly congregate meal program open to LGBT seniors and allies. Lunches are served 11:30 am every Thursday at AgeLinc and will include time for education and socialization. Call to find out more information or to reserve a lunch. Applications must be received by the Tuesday prior to each Thursday and reservations are required.

Provides a Child Support Recovery Unit program to assist (both public assistance and non-public assistance) families with child support recovery.

The Red Cross hosts Sounds the Alarm in spring to install smoke alarms and help families learn about home fire safety.

Provides free, confidential community information, referrals and crisis line services to assist people in areas including support groups, community and cultural events, parenting concerns, adult and child abuse, relationship and family concerns, alcohol and drug abuse, housing, emergency shelter, suicidal thoughts and feelings, and food resources.

Offers to assist central Iowa families and students with counseling, health care services, mentoring, sports and community projects. 

Offers workshops that teach individuals and families how to get more out of money and how to save money for financial goals. This is a series of workshops that are a blend of instruction and hands on activities so each concept can be mastered. 

Weatherization services include a cost-effectiveness energy audit, air leakage checks, insulation, and all combustion appliances inspection for repair and/or replacement.

Offers "Norman Services" to support families with children at risk of being placed in DCFS care or unable to return home due to unmet basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, or other essential items. These services aim to prevent child removal or facilitate reunification by addressing critical living circumstances.

Eligible families may receive assistance through Public Aid/TANF and other cash grants, the Housing Advocacy Program (HAP) to secure permanent housing, and the Emergency Cash Assistance Program for immediate basic needs.

Additionally, the services include support for guardianship-related matters, providing guidance and resources for individuals navigating the appointment or opposition of guardianship arrangements for children or adolescents.

Provides discounted bus passes for older adults.
