Offers to protect the health and welfare of residents through the identification of potential communicable disease problems and to control the spread of infectious disease within the county. Offers investigation and follow up on communicable diseases, and an immunization program. 

Medical clinic providing illness/minor injury care, well child exams, school/sport physicals, employment physicals, lead testing, patient assistance program enrollment through needymeds.org, chronic disease management, diabetes/blood glucose testing, high blood pressure testing, acute illness, and dentist referrals.  Also provides general counseling services.

Supportive home for those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction; residents must abide by the rules of the home, including never using drugs or alcohol while a resident. Homes may house men, women, women with children, or men with children.

Provides environmental health services such as food sanitation and safety inspections, well/septic program and nuisance control (such as overgrown weeds, hazardous chemicals, etc).

Offers low-cost spay/neuter assistance to owners who qualify in the Des Moines metro to help reduce unwanted litters and address the problem of pet overpopulation. Appointments are available on a limited first-come, first-served basis.
