Provides a hotline for individuals working around unmarked utilities. Individuals must contact 811 or submit an online request at www.call811.com in their state for each project to ensure the location of underground utilities, including gas, electric, water, and other services, is identified. Representatives may mark utility lines within 48 hours of the call; services must be requested at least two full working days before digging. Individuals must contact a plumbing and heating dealer or a qualified private contractor to locate customer owned gas piping' including pipes and wires that pass-through MidAmerican Energy owned meters.

Utility facilities should be marked between the confirmation of services and dig start time. Each utility company will either mark the location of their facilities with paint and/or flags, or let you know that their lines are not in conflict with the area in which you are planning to dig.
