Provides aging and adult protective services throughout East Central Illinois. Services provide case workers conducting investigations and working with vulnerable adults in resolving these abusive situations financial exploitation, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse.

Provides Investigation into allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults, and persons with disabilities, who live in domestic (non-institutional) settings. Abuse can be defined as physical and emotional abuse, financial exploitation, confinement/neglect, deprivation of food or medication, sexual abuse, and self-neglect. Services include:

• 24 hour hotline with standardized report screening
• Investigation of all reports with/or without substantiation
• Case work and advocacy for substantiated victims to mitigate the effects of the abuse
• Monthly follow-up and monitoring (up to 12 months) to ensure the client remains safely in their own home
• Early Intervention Funds - temporary financial assistance to assist in alleviating effects of abusive situations

Provides protective services for adults 60 and over, and adults with disabilities age 18 and over. Abuses of the nature defined by the Adult Protective Services program are a type of domestic violence that have a strong and lasting impact on adults with disabilities and older adults of our community. This type of abuse affects a victim’s overall health and well-being and can affect health concerns such as blood pressure, heart problems, and other medical problems.

Provides help vulnerable adults with navigating abusive situations that they may encounter by providing resources to help mitigate risk of vulnerable adults that meet the criteria of the program.

Caseworkers develop and implement a care plan in order to stabilize the situation and reduce the risk of further harm. Anyone who suspects abuse or neglect should report it. Adult Protective Services is locally coordinated through 36 provider agencies throughout Illinois. Local APS caseworkers investigate allegations and coordinate client service referrals to mitigate risk and assure client health, welfare, and safety.
