Air Force Aid Society
Provides standard and emergency assistance to Air Force and Space Force families when unexpected financial emergencies arise with no-interest loans and grants. The programs are intended to help meet immediate financial emergency needs and help make a positive step toward a lasting financial solution. Assistance many be in the form of loans or grants.
Assistance programs may help with emergency assistance for rent or utilities, medical or dental care costs, funeral expenses, vehicle expenses (repair, payment, insurance, gas, etc.), pet medical care or transportation to/from an overseas assignment, food, personal hygiene items, child care expenses, and more.

Embrace Iowa is a project through the Des Moines Register that is administered by Community Action Agencies in the state and is only accessible during a certain time period. Requests that are considered for this project may include beds, clothing, car repairs, medical expenses (including pharmacy, dental and corrective lenses), furniture, rent, utilities, home repairs, household items, appliances, and miscellaneous other things (computer, etc.) If there is not a service available to assist someone, this could be a possibility for them to apply for these funds during this time period. The maximum dollar amount awarded per household is $750.

Offers a summary of assistance programs through Troy Township:
- General Assistance provides monthly payments to help residents meet basic needs.
- Emergency Assistance is available to qualified individuals and families facing emergencies that are work related or life threatening such as eviction, utility disconnection, and transportation.
- Salvation Army Service Extension Program funds are available once in any 12-month period for residents which also may be helped using Salvation Army welfare guidelines.
- Nicor Sharing is a one-time annual grant given, with no requirement to be paid back to qualified residential customers to make payments to Nicor Gas on resident's behalf.

Offers General Assistance (GA) for residence with in Marengo Township. GA is a locally administered welfare program which provides monthly financial assistance to persons who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own basic needs.
The General Assistance Program is primarily for those adults without minor children, without adequate income, and ineligible for any other monetary forms of assistance.

When funds are available, one-time financial assistance is available for emergency situations for medications, housing, food, utilities, etc.

Provides financial assistance to individuals who are ineligible for other state assistance and do not have resources to provide for their needs.
Johnson County Social Services Office
Provides ongoing assistance for those applying for Social Security Disability (SSDI) benefits through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program of the Social Security Administration. An eligible applicant may receive monthly assistance not to exceed the current General Assistance benefits per month for the duration of eligibility. Upon approval of SSI benefits, Social Security will reimburse Johnson County the total amount that the client received in benefits from the IAR Program.
