- Crisis Response: Crisis Response services are available to every family in the aftermath of gun violence. This includes mental health first-aid, practical needs of the victim and family, liaise with law enforcement, engage in interactive safety planning, and address any other emerging urgent needs.

- Funeral Expense Assistance: For deaths by gun violence, our specialists provide information and rights assistance and expense assistance for funeral arrangements.

- Legal & Medical Advocacy: Case Manager will ensure you are supported and informed during the aftermath. This includes: getting case updates from the police department, attending court alongside individuals or families, attending doctors appointments or hearings, etc.

- Government Aid Assistance: Case Manager can assist in necessary applications for Medicaid benefits.

- Support Groups: Offered for parents that have lost someone to gun violence, for teens that have been affected by gun violence, for adults that have been affected by gun violence, for victims of gun violence, and for our forgiveness campaign.

Safe place for children who are alleging sexual and/or physical abuse, have witnessed a violent crime, witness to domestic violence, and/or been kidnapped to be interviewed by law enforcement, case workers, or forensic interviewer.  Coordinated multi-disciplinary approach to the ongoing investigation of child abuse cases which includes law enforcement, protection and safety workers, legal, mental health, medical and trained professionals.  Hair testing for drug endangered children and S.A.N.E. exams for children ages 0-16 years.  Provides referrals to mental health services and support groups, and follows the case through the legal system.  Assists parents in reporting abuse or following up on reports already made.  Offers community educational presentations. S.A.N.E stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner which is a registered nurse or nurse practitioner who has completed specialized training to assist sexual assault victims. They collect all forensic evidence and perform exams.

Advocates guide victims through the criminal justice system and give information and referrals to other services for victims of crime in Douglas County.  The court process can be confusing and overwhelming. Advocates can answer questions and help victims understand the different steps that may happen in the court case, explain rights, and be present each step of the way. The goal is for parties most affected by criminal actions to have an opportunity to safely meet, assisted by a volunteer mediator, to discuss what happened, how it felt when it happened, how it feels now, what is needed for restitution. Specialized training is offered to anyone interested in becoming a volunteer mediator. Time commitment for volunteer hours will vary depending upon the cases referred.
